Transport Minister Chadchat Sittipunt is opposed to a plan by the Airports of Thailand Plc (AoT) to relocate Suvarnabhumi airport’s taxi parking area.
The relocation of the parking area, currently at the Transport Centre inside the airport, would make it more difficult for the AoT to regulate taxi services at the airport, he said.
The AoT board is expected to consider the Suvarnabhumi taxi management and reform plan on Aug 28.
Mr Chadchat said the AoT should regulate the taxi service and absorb management costs.
AoT board member Panu Kerdlappol was assigned to reorganise taxi services at Suvarnabhumi. He said he was considering a vacant Highway Department plot south of the airport.
The AoT will shoulder the costs of the new parking facility for taxis, he said.
